RARE Antique French Wall Clock Vincenti & Cie Medaille D'argent 1834 Louis XVI. This rare antique clock is not only absolutely gorgeous but in also in great condition for being nearly 150 years old. It has very detailed sculptural design of two children (boy and girl) which look to me like cherubs on top and the face of a woman on bottom which reminds me of an angel. These clocks were often referred to as "Cartel clocks".The clock face and glass door are in great condition, with exception of small spot on brass trim toward bottom of glass door. Overall it has some minor signs of wear which is expected for an antique piece of this age.
On the backside it has a metal door covering the rear of the movement. The door opens and closes perfectly. The movement itself has the Vincenti stamp under the bell. (Please see photos) It does look as though someone tried to make a repair to the backside of the clock (See photos for details) but u would never know looking at it from front side.
But again I can tell you IT DOES WIND-UP, TICK, AND CHIME without issue. Please note: It is missing the pendulum though; so a replacement will be needed in order for it to keep accurate time. Also it does have a square hole cut out of the bottom, which I would assume is for a pendulum to hang down or for easy access to attach/detach. The clock almost looks black in color, but its actually a very dark brown. It's pretty heavy, weighing just over 8lbs, it's made of some sort of metal.
It measures approximately 15" from top to bottom, approximately 10" across at the widest middle part and about 4 deep. This truly is a beautiful Vincenti & Cie antique piece that will definitely be the the statement piece wherever hung.
